Jan 27, 2010 Pinout of APC Smart UPS cable and layout of 9 pin D-SUB male connector and 9 pin D-SUB female connectorAPC Part# 940-0024C, # 940-0024B, # 940-0024D or 940-1524(black cable). Compatible with most APC UPSs that have a DB9 serial port. Should work with APC PowerChute or Apcupsd(UPS Server for Linux).
I am trying to access the management interface for a APC UPS using the serial port.I used both the serial and USB cables which came with the UPS.
I ordered two of these UPS, I connected one to Server 2008 R2 machine and the other to a Windows 7 PC.
In both cases, they are visible from the Device Manager.
Under Batteries, it is listed as 'APC UPS'
Under Human Interface Devices, it is listed as 'American Power Conversion USB UPS'
I then try to connect using Putty with the following settings:
Baud: 9600
Data Bits: 8
Parity: None
Apc Serial Port Connection
Stop bits: 1Flow Control: None
Apc Smart Ups 3000 Serial Connection
I reach a black terminal windows with a blinking green cursor but I cannot do anything.Apc Smart Ups Serial Connection
Pressing Enter or any other keys does nothing.I've also tried changing the Baud to 2400 and the other available Flow Control settings with no luck.
Downloaded another emulation program called SecureCRT but still have the same screen.
What else could I check? Any other configuration options or software which may fix the problem?
