This document explains how to uninstall and reinstall Acrobat DC on your computer. (For other download and installation related help, click the appropriate link above.)

Reinstall Adobe Acrobat Reader

You can easily uninstall Acrobat DC from the Windows Control Panel > Program and Features. If you face any problem during the uninstallation, use the Acrobat Cleaner tool to do the same.

  1. Open the Run command box - press the Windows key and the R key.

  2. In the Run command box, type Control Panel and press OK.

  3. From the list of installed programs, select Adobe Acrobat DC and click Uninstall.

  4. After Adobe Acrobat DC is uninstalled, restart your computer.

    Note:

    If you can’t see Adobe Acrobat DC in the list of installed programs in Control Panel > Program and Features, or can’t uninstall for any other reasons, follow the instructions in the next section.

If you can’t uninstall Adobe Acrobat DC using the Windows Control Panel as described in the earlier section, use the Adobe Acrobat DC Cleaner Tool.

  1. Go to the Adobe Reader and Acrobat Cleaner Tool download page.

  2. Click the check box to accept the terms of use of the cleaner tool license and Adobe online privacy policy

  3. Click Download Adobe Reader DC and Acrobat DC Cleaner Tool for Windows version 4.0. The AdobeAcroCleaner_DC2015.zip file is downloaded.

  4. Double click the AdobeAcroCleaner_DC2015.exe to launch the Acrobat Reader DC and Adobe Acrobat DC Cleaner Tool.

  5. Click Next and then click Accept to accept the Adobe General End-User License Agreement.

  6. Choose Acrobat as the product to remove and click Next.

  7. (Optional) If you have Acrobat Reader DC installed, and you want to retain the file settings shared between Acrobat DC and Acrobat Reader DC, select the option Leave Acrobat Reader Workflows Intact.

  8. The uninstallation process begins and completes in some time. Click Finish, and then restart your computer.

You can easily uninstall Acrobat DC using the Acrobat DC uninstaller from Finder > Applications > Adobe Acrobat DC. If you face any problem during the uninstallation, use the Acrobat Cleaner tool to do the same.

  1. Go to Finder > Applications > Adobe Acrobat DC, and double click the Acrobat Uninstaller.

  2. The uninstaller asks you to select the product. Select Adobe Acrobat and click Open.

  3. In the confirmation dialog for Acrobat DC removal, click OK.

If you can’t uninstall Adobe Acrobat DC using the Acrobat uninstaller as described in the section above, use the Adobe Acrobat DC Cleaner Tool.

  1. Go to the Adobe Reader and Acrobat Cleaner Tool download page.

  2. Click the check box to accept the terms of use of the cleaner tool license and Adobe online privacy policy.

  3. Click Download Adobe Reader DC and Acrobat DC Cleaner Tool for Mac version 1.0. The acrobat_ittools_cleaner_p1_061713.zip file is downloaded.

  4. Double-click the downloaded file to open the folder contents. The folder consists the AcroCleanerTool.

  5. Double click the AcroCleanerTool file to launch the Acrobat Reader DC and Adobe Acrobat DC Cleaner Tool.

  6. Click Next and then click Accept to accept the Adobe General End-User License Agreement.

  7. Select Acrobat as the product to remove and click Next.

  8. If you have more than one version of Acrobat, select the Acrobat version you want to remove and click Clean.

Before you install, always make sure that your system meets the minimum system requirements.

You need Windows 7 or later to run Acrobat Reader DC. If your operating system is older,

Explorer: Download and install Acrobat Reader DC

Follow these steps to install Acrobat Reader DC using Internet Explorer.

  1. Close all versions of Reader. Close any browser that is displaying a PDF.
  2. Go to the Adobe Acrobat Reader download page and click Install now.

    Note:

    You need Windows 7 or later to run Acrobat Reader DC. If you're running an older version of Windows, the Adobe Reader download page looks like this:

  3. When the file download message appears at the bottom of the browser window, click Run.

    Note:

    Acrobat Reader DC installation is a two-part process: The installer is downloaded, and then Reader is installed. Be sure to wait until both parts are complete. A progress bar displays the time remaining.

  4. When you see the confirmation message that the installation is complete, click Finish.

Follow these steps to install Acrobat Reader DC using Mozilla Firefox.

  1. Close all versions of Reader. Close any browser that is displaying a PDF.
  2. Go to the Adobe Acrobat Reader download page and click Install now.

    Note:

    You need Windows 7 or later to run Acrobat Reader DC. If you're running an older version of Windows, the Adobe Reader download page looks like this:

  3. When the Opening dialog box appears, click Save File.

  4. Press Ctrl+J to open the download Library. When the download Library window appears, double-click the .exe file for Reader.

  5. If prompted to open the executable file, click OK.

  6. When you see the confirmation message that the installation is complete, click Finish.

Follow these steps to install Acrobat Reader DC using Google Chrome.
